NPTC Group of Colleges has been accredited with the Carers Federation Quality Standard in Carer Support, recognising a proactive approach to supporting learners with caring responsibilities across further education.
The accreditation reflects work undertaken to better identify young carers, raise staff awareness, and develop consistent processes that ensure students receive timely and appropriate support. This includes improved referral systems and closer links with specialist organisations able to provide targeted assistance.
NPTC has focused on creating an environment where learners feel understood and supported, acknowledging that caring responsibilities can impact attendance, coursework, and wellbeing. Staff training has been central to this work, helping teams across campuses recognise signs that a student may be balancing education with caring at home.
Achieving the Quality Standard marks an important milestone for the Group and provides a framework for continued development. It reinforces NPTC’s commitment to inclusion and to reducing barriers that can prevent young carers from fully engaging in education and achieving their potential.
