The Mentoring Project provides free and confidential support for young carers across Nottingham City, Broxtowe, Rushcliffe and Gedling.
What our mentors provide
Mentoring is designed to enable mentees to form a trusting, one-to-one relationship with a mentor in a way that will have a positive impact on their daily life. We aim to enable people to focus on their own needs and to benefit from the support of someone who will get to know them over a sustained period of time. The scheme recognises the differing needs of mentees, and mentors work creatively to support each carer’s individual journey.
“I have found my sessions really useful, she has listened and offered support. I don’t think I would have coped over the past few months without it”
How we support out mentors
The service is reliant upon the commitment and expertise of those that volunteer for us. We place volunteers at the heart of all that the service offers, providing all volunteers with:
- Bespoke personal development plans to ensure that volunteering reflects the volunteers aspirations in terms of the experience.
- Ongoing mentoring support
- Regular feedback and supervision
