Carers Federation has successfully been awarded a 3-year contract by Gateshead Council and North East and Cumbria ICB to deliver an all – age carers support service for unpaid carers living in and around Gateshead. The successful applicant will be part of a dynamic and passionate team with a commitment to identifying and supporting Young Carers both within the community and educational settings.

The successful applicant will be part of a dynamic and passionate team with a commitment to identifying and supporting Young Carers both within the community and educational settings.

Job Purpose:
You will be office-based however you will be expected to out and about within the Gateshead community and Education settings raising the profile of Young Carers.

The successful applicant will:
• Offer one to one support to Young Carers
• Offer appropriate interventions and identify the needs of an individual and or family with internal and external support organisation statutory.
• Using your own initiative when managing appointments, meetings etc.
• Understanding of safeguarding Children & Adults
• Understanding of the Safeguarding referral process
• Work within a multi-agency approach as and when required.
• Have good communication skills
• Good computer skills and accurate record keeping
• Ability to manage own workload
• Confident, conscientious, enthusiastic
• Confidence in delivering presentations
• Ability to articulate and promote Young Carers in Education settings
• Ability and confidence in leading and developing education network meetings
• An understanding of young Carers and their diverse needs
• Have a level of resilience when dealing with emotional and practical pressures of the Young Carer support worker role.
• Previous experience in working with children.
• Willingness to access relevant training as part of personal development.
• You will be expected to support with the delivery of Young Carer group and activities during school holidays.
You will work within the Gateshead Safeguarding Board policies and procedures alongside those of Carers Federation.

 

Due to the expectation of traveling it is highly desirable that you are a driver/car user and willing to travel on occasions long distances.
