Moodle Development Officer

This is an exciting opportunity to join our training department on the next phase of our growth strategy as a Moodle Development Officer.

This is a new position and we are looking for an experienced e-learning content developer (preferably with Moodle front and back end coding and content experience) to support us to develop our Moodle Schools prospectus and deliver engaging and creative e-learning content . You will have experience of using Powerpoint, Prezzi and a range of animation and video editing software (e.g. Adobe Spark, Powtoon, Photoshop)  to create a range of interactive training modules, ideally you will have experience of e-learning authorising software e.g. H5P and SCORM. You will have a flair for working with managers, staff and volunteers to adapt traditional training content into exciting creative e-learning courses.

You will be expected to work in the Head Office (Nottingham) for one day per week with the remaining hours home-based.

Salary: Salary: 2b: £26,010 (Pro rata) with an increase to £28,091 (pro rata) after successful six month probation period.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Work with mangers, staff and volunteers to;
    • build engaging learning content using a variety of eLearning authoring tools
    • produce lessons and interactive learner activities
  • Upload training content (including embedding multi media content and other applications and authorising software g. SCORM, H5P) onto the Moodle platform, creating complete e-learning courses
  • Lead on the user testing, feedback and implementing updates/revisions to course content
  • Agree approval and sign off with the Training Manager for commercial release of courses
  • Work with the Training Manager to implement course development plans and strategies
  • Develop the training offer and promotional material on the charity web site
  • Update and maintain the e-commerce pages on the charity web site
  • Support the development and delivery of all new e-learning initiatives across the charity
  • Keep up to date with latest e-learning technologies and innovations
  • Undertake the continued building and ongoing administration of Moodle platform and courses
  • Trouble shoot and offer advice and guidance to all managers, staff and volunteers
  • Analysing commercial and other e-learning related data and complete internal reports
  • Work as part of a team and meet agreed deadlines
  • Undertake training and development as part of their personal development plans
  • Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required

Key Skills and knowledge:

Essential:

  • Proven experience of e-learning content design and development
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Experience of facilitating design workshops and training sessions
  • Proven experience of working with e-learning authoring software e.g H5P, SCORM,
  • Proven experience of working with image and video editing software (photoshop, Adobe Spark)
  • Previous experience of e-learning systems administration and course set up on a Moodle platform (including front and back end coding)
  • Interest in e-learning course development and the latest technology developments/innovations
  • Web site development and design (front end)
  • Continued personal development
  • Able to work on own initiative and also as part of a team

Desirable:

  • Project Management Skills
  • Experience of designing and developing front end e-commerce web pages
  • Market analysis and business planning
  • Commercial awareness/entrepreneurial skills
