We are looking for an experienced Young Carers Activity worker to Join Carers Federation, Caregivers Connected Service, to lead on the Young Carer and Young Adult Carer element of the service.

Reference: YC/GHCS

Hours: 16hrs per week (This would include a Saturday)

Type: Sessional

Salary: Band 1a Standard with Actual Salary £10,162 per annum

Join us at Carers Federation and make a lasting impact on the lives of Young Carers and Young Adult Caregivers across Gateshead.

We are looking for an experienced Young Carers Activity worker to Join Carers Federation, Caregivers Connected Service, to lead on the Young Carer and Young Adult Carer element of the service.

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to supporting Young Carers and Young Adult Carers smooth transition into the wider Adult Caregivers element of the service, alongside partnership working with the wider Community to identify both Young Carers and Young Adult Caregivers and enable them to access a variety of support services alongside carer support services.

As a key member of the team, you will work alongside the existing Service Manager and Team Leader, you will have responsibility for the day-to-day line management and organization of the Young Carers team to ensure all aspects of the service is delivered to the highest standards.

The successful candidate will be provided with the appropriate training to fulfil the role; accordingly, you will also be required to work within Gateshead Safeguarding policies and procedures alongside those of Carers Federation.

It is essential that you are a driver and car user as the role entails travel throughout Gateshead and you may need to transport young carers to and from various activities. Many activities will be outside normal office hours, and you will need to be able to commit to supporting these on a sessional basis.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience of working with children & young people
  • Proven experience of delivering and engaging in activities
  • A good understanding of children & adults safeguarding
  • A good understanding of risk assessments
  • Knowledge of Gateshead Geographical areas
  • Friendly approach and a willingness to get involved with activities
  • Good interpersonal skills with an ability to adapt to individual needs
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Reliable and flexible
  • Able to record accurate information on databases
  • Ability to use a variety of IT systems
