About BECONN

BECONN stands for Black and Ethnic Minority Carers of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Carers from ethnic minority communities may face additional problems and isolation if information and support services do not meet religious, cultural or language needs.

The BECONN team has African Caribbean, South Asian and an ethnic minority carer support workers who can offer culturally appropriate information and support.
We provide

  • a range of training, educational and social activities promoting skills and confidence
  • advocacy - empowering carers to get the best out of services
  • a LINK service for young children with disabilities and parent carers, including holidays and after-school activities
  • a sitting/escorting service enabling carers to have short breaks
  • support by telephone, outreach and carers groups
