Adult Carer Support

Our confidential support and information service for carers over the age of 18 is the longest-running service of the Federation.

Based at the Federation’s Carers Centre in Nottingham, we have supported more than 20,000 carers throughout Nottinghamshire since the service began in 1992.

The Adult Carer Support team has a total of 20 years experience supporting adult carers in the community and aims to improve the emotional and physical well being of the carer.

We offer telephone support or can meet carers at a venue of their choice; this may be in their own home or, if this is not appropriate, at a mutually convenient location where the carer feels at ease.

Our aim is to listen to the carer and jointly identify how we can provide support to enable them to continue in their caring role.

The Adult Carer Support Team provides carers with the tools to

  • Have a voice
  • Access information on a wide range of carer issues
  • Acknowledge their own health needs
  • Know their rights
  • Recognise their choices and opportunities
  • Access services in the community
  • Engage in social activities
  • Maximise incomes by providing information about benefits and assisting with benefit applications; assisting with funding applications etc

Not all carers require practical help. Sometimes all a carer needs is someone to talk to other than family and friends. We understand what a caring role entails and the impact that caring has on the individual. We offer one to one listening support and also have a Carer Support Group which was set up to give carers the opportunity to meet and talk with other carers in a social setting. The Carer Support Group meets at The Carers' Centre, Sherwood Rise, Nottingham.
