The change to involving the public in everything is so big and complex that it’s going to mean changing people’s hearts and minds. It means adopting new attitudes so that every voice is heard with equal respect. It means each one of us being a positive contributor, whether we are health and social care professionals, or members of the wider public. That's a big task.
You can't work on that scale without having the tools to do the job. That's why 'More Power to You' was written. What is more, it was created completely in partnership.
A group of bodies came together - including the The NHS East Midlands Multi Professional Deanery (Trent), The Carers Federation and Skills for Care East Midlands - to fulfil this need. And, at every stage of its development, health and social care professionals worked in partnership with people who use services, carers and workers in the voluntary sector. So its creation has been totally inclusive - just as it seeks to support the movement towards services that are totally inclusive.
No matter where you are in the learning process - patients, carers, trainers, users of services, employees - the ‘More Power to You’ training materials offer a range of topics at a variety of levels that make it easy to select where you start and how far you continue to develop your skills.
You can put together a portfolio of your own progress.
