Research Forum

The
Carers Federation established its Research Forum in 2008 as a direct
response to the need for a proactive research function to support its
work.
The Forum acts as a focus for projects led by staff and external organisations and its monthly meetings provide an opportunity for researchers to discuss a wide range of ethical, legal and logistical issues.
As a non profit-making body the Forum reinvests any surplus funds to benefit current and future initiatives.
The Forum has three main aims:
• to promote rigorous and
authoritative research in the fields of health and social sciences which
will be directly relevant to carers, the people they care for and the
wider community
• to provide resources to support new research and to establish the policy and procedural frameworks in which it takes place
• to provide information about research ideas, live studies and previous work and an opportunity for researchers to share information and gain support.
The Forum's philosophy Forum reflects that of the Carers
Federation as a whole. The aim is always to ‘go the extra mile' in all
aspects of its operation. The Research Forum believes that patients and
members of the public who are involved in a research project (whether
as subjects or researchers) must always be treated with respect and
dignity.
