Regents House
"I just couldn't carry on with the chaos of looking after my husband. Regents House made me feel heard in a way that I had never experienced before. I feel safe there."
Wife of a long-term alcoholic
It can be hard to cope if someone close to you is involved in alcohol or drug misuse. Normal life can seem impossible and it's often difficult to know where to find help and advice.
For ten years Regents House has been working with people who are affected by someone else's substance misuse. If you're struggling to cope, we can offer practical and emotional support and a chance to meet other people in your situation.
So far we've carried out over 1,000 one-to-one support sessions and nearly 5,000 telephone sessions. Our free helpline is open from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm 365 days a year.
You can speak to a specialist support worker by calling 0800 052 59 59.
We can provide a wide range of help including:
• comprehensive drug information to help carers understand drugs and find out about possible treatment options
• face to face meetings with a dedicated support worker, either at the family home or in another appropriate location
• group support including special sessions for parents of young people using drugs
• advocacy and signposting to put you in touch with additional services that match your individual needs.
We also provide support and information for healthcare professionals who want to find out more about drug/alcohol misuse and related issues.
"I'm convinced that without Regents House I would either have dropped out or been kicked out of college."
