Local Involvement Networks (LINks)
"Quote from a LINk participant about how rewarding it is to be involved"
One of the roles of the Carers Federation is to act as host for a number of LINks nationwide. The most important role of a LINk is identifying local issues and supporting practical action to bring about change. LINks can look at all sorts of areas, from residential homes and day centres to GP practices and hospitals.
If you use health and social care services or belong to a group that does so, participating in a LINk can be an effective way of making your voice heard. You can get involved simply by attending meetings and giving your views or you may have time to volunteer as a hospital ward visitor or to join a steering group. It's up to you - you can dedicate as much or as little time as you wish.
If you're interested in getting involved in your local LINk, you can contact us and we'll send you a participation pack. In our role as host we're also actively involved in supporting the ongoing work of LINks. We can train participants, help with research and publicity and support policy development. We can also help LINks forge contacts with organisations elsewhere in the UK.
If you're interested in participating or would like to find out more about our LINks support services please email links@carersfederation.co.uk.
