Laura talks about her uncle who has a physical disability

A physical disability is when you have a problem with the way your body works. My uncle has a physical disability called Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and this affects around 85,000 people in the UK.

My uncle has to live with us as he is going through a bad patch and doesn’t feel too well. As he isn’t too well at the moment he has to use a wheelchair. One night me and my mum sat down and searched the internet for help. We came across a brilliant website called www.disabledparentsnetwork.org.uk and this gave us tips on the things that are available and we read other stories which were like our own.

After going on the internet we got in touch with the council and we now have a stair lift so my uncle can get upstairs and we also have rails in the toilet so he can have more privacy. All these things will hopefully help out my uncle and make our life a little easier.
